Basic White Bread Dough

The smell of white bread straight out of the oven makes me very nostalgic and the taste of warm white bread bread brings me so much comfort. This is a great Basic White Bread Dough Recipe that you can use as desired to make loaves, rolls, bread sticks and pizza bases from scratch (on the days you don't want to cheat with the store bought dough haha)

  • 500g cake flour

  • 15ml salt

  • 15ml sugar

  • 10g instant yeast

  • 600ml tepid water

  • 30ml oil


  1. Sift together the flour, salt and sugar, then mix in the yeast.

  2. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in half the water and oil. Mix together to form a soft dough adding more remaining water as needed.

  3. When you have a soft, pliable dough that is sticky, turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place into a grease bowl, cover and place in a warm place to double in size, about 30 minutes.

  5. Once proved, use as desired.
